Byju’s Toppr Lays off 20% Workforce – 350 Employees

Toppr – owned by Byju’s Group which has been the frontrunner in Indian edtech layoffs has laid off 20% of its overall workforce, around 350 Employees.

Media and Content teams seem to have taken a larger hit as part of these layoffs. The company credits the decision to restructuring efforts happening at Byju’s.

This news comes to light just 2 days after Byju’s owned Whitehat Jr decided to lay off 350+ Employees. Toppr makes learning effective for you. Prepare for JEE Main, NEET, JEE Advanced, CBSE and other school exams.

Dear Employee

Hope you are doing safe and well.

As you are aware, Toppr Technologies Private Limited has been acquired by Think and Learn Private Limited (“BYJU’S”) and is now a subsidiary company of BYJU’S. We have aligned our business lines and resources to meet our new objectives.

In view of the above change in business, restructuring is necessary and the company has to make certain positions within your department redundant as duly informed to you. We have also informed you that we were unable to find a suitable role for you despite our best efforts to find the same

It is with deep regret that we must notify you that your role will become redundant effective 29 June 2022. We understand this is tough and we are trying our level best to make this as smooth as possible and extend any assistance to you.

Next steps:
a. Our leaders/HR team would have already connected with you 1:1 today to walk you through the process
b. Your last working day at Toppr will be on 29 June 2022. The Company shall release a severance payment equivalent to your notice period (as per your Offer letter), an additional 15 days’ salary for each
completed year at Toppr and prorata performance bonus (if any) till 30 June 2022.
c. We will be paying you full month salary for June 22 by the salary date and your full and final settlement (which would include your severance pay) shall be as per process
d. You are requested to hand over all the properties/assets and any confidential information of the Company that was assigned to you for performing your official tasks
