On Thursday, March 23, the American company Takeoff Technologies , which specializes in the automation of e-commerce processes, dismissed all employees of the main Kyiv development office. Between 50 and 80 people were laid off, dismissed specialists told DOU.

“The company explained this by the demands from investors, in particular, the fact that the location in Eastern Europe creates business risks for the further functioning of the company,” the interlocutor of the editorial office said.

Another fired employee told DOU that during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the company made additional payments to Ukrainian specialists and compensated for housing and relocation in safe regions.

“Retrenchment is very sad, but these are the realities of business. Ukraine as a region is a risky investment, and not all companies are ready to work with such risks,” said the interlocutor of the editorial office.

The source also reported that the company left all laid-off employees with equipment for work – “from armchairs to very expensive MacBooks”, paid the dismissed specialists a compensation package and provided time to “take all the necessary data from their work accounts, say goodbye to their colleagues , friends, managers, etc.”
